Welcome to Whyte Ridge
Whyte Ridge is a residential community that was started in 1986 to service the growing demand for affordable new homes in South Winnipeg . With the neighbouring community of Lindenwoods catering custom builds to executive families. The community of Whyte Ridge offered new homes at affordable prices in the latest home designs. Many of these homes were built on speculation and the area’s overall success became apparent as the overwhelming demand outgrew supply.
The style of houses found in this area include; Two Storey, Bungalows, Cab-overs and Bi-levels and Split-level homes. Whyte Ridge does not currently have any Condominium projects. However, Lindenwoods offers a large number of Condominiums projects that are within minutes of the community.
The schools in Whyte Ridge are managed by the Pembina Trails School Division. Whyte Ridge has two schools Whyte Ridge School (English K-4) and Henry G. Izatt (English 5-9). For students attending high school there are a few options for schools (see link below). The South Winnipeg Technical Centre is within minutes and the neighbouring University of Manitoba is only 10 minutes by car.

Shopping
There is a number of shopping venues in the area. Big box retailers are aligned along Route #90 & McGillvary Blvd offering a wide selection of products and price points. Some of the bigger retailers include: Wal-Mart, Safeway, Sobeys, Home Depot, Revy, Costco, Home Outfitters. In addition to retail services there are a number of resturants in the area such as The Keg, Boston Pizza, Pasta La Vista, Moxie’s Classic Grill, Shogun Japanese Restaurant plus many more.
Recreation
Whyte Ridge has a community centre that offers a wide variety of outdoor activities year round. There are numerous walking paths and large areas of green space making this area ideal for families that need room to roam.
Surrounding the community of Whyte Ridge are a number of other fitness / activity venues such as the Pan Am Aquatic Centre, The Kinsmen Refit Centre, The Winnipeg Soccer complex, The Rady Centre (http://www.radyjcc.com/), with the most impressive being the Assiniboine Park with a flurry of daily activity. The Assinboine Park is home to number pathways, water features, formal gardens and greenhouses. This park is home to the famous Winnipeg Zoo and host a series of summer events that are attended by many.
